Pearland Three-Vehicle Crash Kills One
At about 12:45 am on Monday, November 13th, a minivan and another vehicle were stopped in line at a red traffic light at the intersection of FM 521 and FM 2234 in Pearland, when a third vehicle approaching in the same direction at a high rate of speed slammed into the rear end of the stopped vehicle, which was then pushed into the rear end of the lead stopped vehicle, the minivan. According to DPS troopers on the scene, the colliding vehicle was going so fast all three vehicles were pushed into the intersection by the force of the collision, with both stopped vehicles being flipped into a drainage ditch. The driver of the first-hit vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the colliding vehicle was injured and transported to an area hospital. No one in the minivan was injured. Investigation continues into the cause of the collision and troopers are awaiting the results of toxicology tests performed on the colliding driver at the hospital where he or she was treated. It is likely that numerous charges will be filed.
