Man Critically Injured in Collision

At about 6:50 am of Thursday, August 30th, an 18-wheeler hauling a large hopper trailer pulled into the southbound traffic lane of Crosby Lynchburg Road near Floy Road in Crosby. Just as the big rig entered the traffic lane, a pickup driven at a very high rate of speed by a 21-year-old man rear-ended the rig’s trailer. The impact of the collision virtually demolished the pickup, scattering large pieces of it for several yards around the collision site. According to Harris County Sheriff’s deputies on the scene, it took first responders more than half an hour to cut the critically injured driver out of the wreckage. He was then Life Flighted to a hospital in the Houston Medical Center in grave condition and it is unclear whether he will survive his injuries. The driver of the big rig was unhurt in the incident and no citations have been thus far issued. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
