Katy Pedestrian Killed on Christmas

A 21-year-old man walking south in front of 1799 Fry Road near Park Row Drive in Katy was hit and killed by an SUV also traveling south at about 12:30 am on Tuesday, Christmas morning. The area is dimly lit and other drivers who stopped to render aid reported to the Harris County Sheriff’s deputies who arrived to investigate that several of them had to swerve to avoid the man before he was hit, as he was walking down the middle of a traffic lane. The SUV’s driver stopped immediately after the collision and called 911 to report the incident. He was not intoxicated or speeding and was cooperative with the officers. Therefore, no charges are anticipated.

I have said many times that walking on Houston’s busy streets is at best a dangerous proposition. But, walking in one at midnight is downright foolhardy. What a sad Christmas for all concerned.
